STIRRING IT UP - Sneak Peek at LaMarche Campaign Ad

September 15, 2006, Portland Phoenix About Town
Excerpt from the blog:

A Pat LaMarche campaign ad was posted on YouTube.com yesterday, and will begin airing statewide tomorrow, the campaign tells us. It's an all-silent ad, so don't think you're missing the sound.

LaMarche is the only Maine gubernatorial candidate with any videos posted on YouTube. But that's not why she has called the ad "Only One Candidate In Maine."

Take a look [at the] comments below!

Wow! That is incredibly powerful, not to mention exactly what candidates for governor should be doing. On that issue alone LaMarche has my vote.

Pat LaMarche is clearly a leader and she will make a great governor for Maine. This is what Baldacci should have done long ago but didn't have the guts to.

It will be interesting to see what the current governor says about this. It he pans the idea, he would be panning something other Democratic governors are considering. If he is in favor of it, the question becomes, why has he waited to say so?

I'm voting for LaMarche

I really respect her for standing up for what is right. We owe it to our men and women in uniform.

I support Ms. LaMarche in this, and I applaud her taking this brave stand. But I have to ask a question, does a governor really have the power to do this? I mean, stop the federal government from calling up the National Guard?

DJ, 9/15/2006 12:17:12 AM

Don,

Yes, absolutely. The Governor does have the power to do this. I think something like that happened in California, when The Governator refused to send troops for Bush's border guard plan.

That's why W tried to pass a law to take the power away from the governors...and he really p'd off the governors.

I think Pat LaMarche is onto something here and I think I'll vote for her just because of this.

Truly wonderful. Like nothing I have ever seen. Pat has really set herself apart from the crowd. I was going to vote for Baldacci but no longer. Pat has my vote now!

My nephew drives convoys in Iraq. From the beginning, his mother (my cousin) asked him if he had body armor, and he said "Yes". At Christmas I asked him myself about the body armor and he admitted he didn't have any, but didn't want to tell his mom because the only kind the Army will let him wear costs over $2,000! And if you get any other kind, it's against regulations. I told my cousin right away, of course, that he wasn't wearing body armor, and she was devastated. All the family members offered to help raise the money but she wouldn't hear of it. She was about to buy it but then when her son was sent back to Iraq for his second tour of duty, the body armor finally came through. Well, that's not good enough. I'm angry.

For an entire tour of duty he was doing one of the most dangerous missions in Iraq WITH NO BODY ARMOR. This war is a disaster and the government is not protecting our troops. Thank God Pat LaMarche is standing up for us and for our young soldiers!
