Pat LaMarche Completes Online Townhall Marathon

Portland, Maine — On Friday, October 13, 2006, Pat LaMarche became the first Maine gubernatorial candidate in the 2006 campaign cycle to complete three one-hour online townhall chats in one day. Sitting in front of her keyboard from noon to 1:00PM, 4:00 to 5:00PM, and 9:30 to 10:30PM, Pat chatted with in-state Mainers and even one who is temporarily located in North Carolina.

Topics covered included universal healthcare, education, environmental concerns, and jobs.

"I am glad that the technology exists to speak to my fellow Mainers, especially those who cannot easily get to a live event," said LaMarche. "Democracy only works when there is open and honest dialogue between the voters and their elected officials, and I plan to keep using the internet to reach out to people in all corners of the state."

Pat's next two online townhall meetings will be held on Wednesday morning, October 18 from 7:00 to 8:00AM, and Thursday evening, October 26 from 8:00 to 9:00PM.

Participants can use AOL, MSM, Yahoo or any other Instant Messaging (IM) handle.
